How are You Affecting the Pet Overpopulation Issue?
I realize this topic isn’t related to small dog training, however I feel it’s an extremely important topic that affects all dog and cat owners. So I hope you’ll consider tossing your hat in the ring some small way in an effort to help control this growing problem.
Overpopulation of dogs and cats in the U.S. is,
and will be, a growing concern until we learn to control unwanted breeding and irresponsible breeders. Birth control may be the best way to stop this population explosion. The conventional methods of control are expensive and invasive, to say the least. There are some newer procedures that are less costly and not so harmful. Bringing awareness to the problems and the solutions may be the best way to remedy them. If you agree, please get involved with your local shelter and spay/neuter clinics. Also, do what you can to lobby your elected officials to speed up the FDA in approval of pet contraceptive drugs.
